Bishkek is the capital and the seat of most private medical schools in the country, as well as of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, the state university the ministry treats as the reference for the sector. Most institutions that failed state accreditation in 2026 are also here, so a Bishkek address on its own says nothing about status.
Schools listed as "Bishkek area" sit just outside the city limits.

Manas International Airport (code BSZ; older listings say FRU) is about 25 km north-west of the centre. Delhi has non-stop flights of roughly three hours, though the aggregator sites disagree on which airline operates them. Lahore's non-stop service by Aero Nomad is listed as ended in July 2026 by one site and as three flights a week by another. No non-stop flight from Islamabad was confirmed, and none exists from Dhaka: Bangladeshi students connect through the Gulf, about 17 hours in total. Flight schedules checked 15 Oct 2026 on aggregator sites, which disagree with each other; confirm the operating airline before booking.

Bishkek sits at 800 m with a continental climate. In the 1991 to 2020 averages, January runs from a high of 2.9 °C to a low of −7.1 °C and July from 32.4 °C to 18.4 °C; the record low is −34 °C and annual precipitation about 455 mm. Winter nights can fall below −15 °C, and on still winter days the air is heavily polluted, which matters for students with asthma. The academic year starts in September, so the first weeks are warm and the first winter arrives in the first semester.

Most foreign medical students live in a university hostel in the first year; the school pages show which schools have one and the two that publish a price (KSMA about 2,000 som (USD 23) a month, IHSM USD 2,150 a year including meals). Off campus, Kyrgyz press in 2026 put a one-room flat at 25,000 to 35,000 som (USD 286 to USD 400) a month at the budget end and 35,000 to 55,000 som (USD 400 to USD 629) for a furnished flat in a central district, with a room in a shared flat at 8,000 to 20,000 som (USD 91 to USD 229). Prices are quoted in som and move with the district; nothing here is an official statistic.

Clinical years run in the city's state hospitals, in Russian. KRSU publishes its list of clinical bases: the National Hospital, the National Centre for Cardiology and Therapy, the National Oncology Centre and City Clinical Hospital No. 1 among them. KSMA opened a Centre for the Development of Clinical Skills on its own campus. The other schools have not published a list; where one exists it is linked from the school's page here, and the May 2026 accreditation checked each school's clinical base.

Since 1 July 2026 the city's buses and electric buses take no cash: a ride is 17 som (USD 0.19) with a Tulpar card or the Tulpar app, and 20 som (USD 0.23) in the small buses that still take cash. The card costs 60 som (USD 0.69) from the driver with one ride included, and card or app users change buses free within an hour. Riding without paying carries a 1,000 som (USD 11) fine. Trolleybuses were withdrawn in 2024, and minibuses are being replaced by buses route by route. Taxis through an app are the usual way home after dark.

21 of the 34 institutions that train doctors in Kyrgyzstan are in Bishkek. After the Ministry of Health's decision of 29 May 2026, 5 of them can enrol new students; the rest failed, did not apply, or are the subject of the notes above. Each is listed on this page with its result.
KSMA, KRSU, Manas University, IUK, IHSM. A school accredited for one year can enrol but is reassessed in 2027; the Embassy of India's advice on those is on the one-year page. Failed schools and schools that did not apply cannot admit new medical students.
First-year tuition at the schools here that can enrol runs from USD 3,500 to USD 7,850 a year where a figure is published; the government minimum since April 2026 is USD 3,000 (KSMA 3,500). Each school's card shows whether its figure is official or an estimate, and the cost guide converts it to your currency.
Status is the Ministry of Health's 2026 state accreditation decision, published 4 Jun 2026. Fees are per year in USD unless marked; agent-reported fees are estimates. Each school page lists its sources and the date it was last checked.
