Georgia vs Kyrgyzstan for MBBS: what the documents say
Georgia sends about a third as many candidates to the Indian licensing exam as Kyrgyzstan, and its state medical university charges more than any Kyrgyz school; in 2026 its state universities closed to new foreign students and Kyrgyzstan's ministry closed 13 schools. This page does not rank the two. It puts the verifiable facts side by side, each with its source and date, and lists what it could not establish.

Accreditation: one national agency against a 2026 state check
Georgia accredits every MD programme through NCEQE, its national quality centre, which belongs to the European association of quality agencies and has held WFME recognition since October 2018, to November 2028. The Ministry of Education's note of September 2022 sets the programme at six years and 360 credits with the internship in the sixth year. That is a stable, documented system; the check for a student is the programme's entry in the NCEQE register.
Kyrgyzstan replaced its independent-agency model with a state check by the Ministry of Health in May 2026 and published a result for every institution: 4 for six years, 3 exempt, 7 for one year, 13 failed, 7 absent. It is a harder filter, and it is only five months old.

Georgia's 2026 rules for foreign students
On 4 December 2025 the Education Minister, Givi Mikanadze, said that from the next academic year the admission of foreign students to state universities, except in exceptional cases, "will be impossible", citing Tbilisi State Medical University, where 45 in 100 students are foreign; foreign students "will be able to study at private universities". Parliament adopted the Law on Higher Education amendments on 4 February 2026, against protests from the academic community.
On 25 June 2026 Parliament adopted, at third reading with 81 votes, amendments to the law on the legal status of foreigners: a language proficiency certificate recognised by the government for anyone enrolling at a university, a duty on foreign students to earn at least one-third of the prescribed credits each year, and loss of the residence permit if student status is suspended for more than 90 days or the student stays outside Georgia for more than 183 days without a valid reason. The Interior Ministry's package as registered on 8 June also provided for a government quota on foreign admissions and a unified student data system; whether those two provisions were adopted as drafted was not checked for this page.

Fees and living costs
Tbilisi State Medical University publishes USD 8,000 a year for its English-medium MD, 7,000 for dentistry and 13,500 for its American MD programme; it is a state university, so new foreign applicants fall under the 2026 rule. For the private schools that now take most foreign applicants, this page found no official price list in English and prints none; agent sites quote USD 3,500 to 8,000 a year. Kyrgyzstan's schools that can enrol publish or are reported at USD 3,400 to 7,900, above a state floor of USD 3,000.
Tbilisi rents are higher than Bishkek's: the citywide asking rent was USD 10 per square metre in April 2026, with typical flats from USD 300 to 650 a month in the outer districts to USD 700 to 1,500 in Vake. The state medical university runs no hostels, so budget for private rent from the first year. In Bishkek most schools house first-year foreign students, and a one-room flat was 25,000 to 55,000 som (USD 286 to USD 629) in 2026.

Counts, not rates, because a rate hides the size of the group. Georgia sends roughly a third as many candidates as Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz counts by school are on the FMGE page.

Georgia, by institution
The same NBEMS reports list every institution whose graduates sat. The rows below are printed as NBEMS prints them: candidates enter the name themselves, so one university can appear under more than one name, and this site does not merge or rank them. Groups under 30 candidates are marked; a result that size says little. Each session's rows add up to the country total above.

What this page does not know
- Official fees of the private Georgian medical schools; their price lists were not read for this page.
- Whether the government quota on foreign admissions and the unified data system in the June 2026 package were adopted as drafted, and when the language-certificate rule takes effect.
- Safety: secondary sources mention a security advisory by the Embassy of India in July 2026 about incidents in Tbilisi; it was not found on an official site and is not relied on here.
- Which Georgian programmes appear in the ECFMG list, which matters for Pakistani applicants under the PM&DC rule of 31 July 2026; check each school in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

Common questions
- Which is better for MBBS, Georgia or Kyrgyzstan?
This site does not rank countries. The sourced facts: Georgia's medical programmes are accredited by a national agency recognised by the World Federation for Medical Education, run six years with the internship in the sixth year, and cost USD 8,000 a year at the state medical university; from 2026-27 its state universities may admit foreign students only in exceptional cases, so new applicants go to private schools. Kyrgyzstan's schools passed or failed a state accreditation in May 2026, run five- or six-year tracks, and cost USD 3,400 to USD 7,900 a year. In the FMGE, 1,505 of 4,221 candidates from Georgia passed in 2024 against 3,792 of 15,135 from Kyrgyzstan; in December 2025, 938 of 2,899 against 1,503 of 7,437.
- Can Indian students still study medicine in Georgia in 2026?
Yes, at private universities. Amendments to the Law on Higher Education adopted on 4 February 2026 restrict foreign admissions to state universities to exceptional cases from the 2026-27 year; the Education Minister said in December 2025 that foreign students who want to study in Georgia will be able to study at private universities, which are 45 of the country's 64 institutions. A second package adopted on 25 June 2026 adds a language certificate at enrolment, a minimum credit load each year, and residence-permit rules.
- How long is the course in each country?
In Georgia the MD programme is six years and 360 ECTS credits, with clinical clerkships of 120 credits and the internship in the sixth year, under the Ministry of Education's description of September 2022. In Kyrgyzstan the May 2026 decision lists each school's General Medicine track as five or six years; the programme tables on the school pages show which track each school holds.
- Do I need NEET for both?
Yes for Indian citizens, because the NMC's 2021 regulations require a qualifying NEET result before the Indian screening exam, whatever the country. Neither Georgia nor Kyrgyzstan runs an entrance exam for foreign medical applicants; Georgia's 2026 amendments add a language certificate recognised by its government at enrolment.
